FOOD GELATINE

Gelatine is a product obtained from the partial hydrolysis of collagen, the main protein constituent of connective tissues of animal origin.

Rich in protein (84-90%) gelatine is free from cholesterol, fat, carbohydrates, preservatives and additives.

Gelatine contains a total of 18 amino acids, including 9 of the 10 essential amino acids that must be consumed regularly as part of a healthy and balanced diet.

Thanks to the high content of essential amino acids, gelatine has been classified as a food (FAO) and therefore should not be declared as an E-additive.

Gelatine has great potential for use as a functional ingredient.

PHARMACEUTICAL GELATINE

In the pharmaceutical industry gelatine is mainly used to prepare soft or hard capsules as well as for coating vitamins.

The pharmaceutical industry takes advantage of the practical properties of gelatine, a reliable ingredient, which can form a film, create a reversible gel and additionally has adhesive properties.

Gelatine helps bind pharmaceutical substances and prolong their stability. It can even increase the release rate of the active medicinal ingredients during intake of the capsule.
